Univision has a new representative of Nuestra Belleza Latina
By Regina Casanova
In Miami, Florida, on May 23 took place the end of the fourth season of Nuestra Belleza Latina, winning a fellow Mexican, from my hometown Navojoa, Sonora. The audience voted and the 25 % of the votes made Ana Patricia Gonzalez the new winner. She was crowned as the new Nuestra Belleza Latina, won $ 250,000 and signed a contract with the Hispanic TV channel Univision for a year.
Four years ago, Univision started its beauty pageant called Nuestra Belleza Latina for all Hispanic women living in the United States. Beautiful girls from Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Honduras, Nicaragua, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Argentina, Mexico and other Spanish-speaking countries have competed for the crown that makes them representatives of the Latin Beauty in this country and proudly hold not only one title, but also the responsibility to promote the values, traditions and attitudes of courage of the Latina woman.
Since the fourth season of this competition started, I faithfully followed it; first of all because I'm a big fan of beauty pageants, and secondly because among the candidates was a very pretty woman that represented with great charm our country and our roots: Ana Patricia Gonzalez, a 22-years old Mexican from Sonora. "Three years ago I married the love of my life. It was also a sad moment because I moved away from my family," said Ana Patricia. She was the favorite from the beginning and worked with great simplicity and gentleness all the time she was at the Mansion of Univision. She dedicated her work to her husband and her family living in Navojoa.
Journalists and fashion experts asked Ana Patricia how she felt about winning the crown that makes her a representative of Latin Women in the United States, to which she replied, "I am the happiest woman over the world. To me, this has been a wonderful thing. I cannot express in words the emotion I feel inside. I am very grateful to the audience who gave me their support from the beginning, this crown is theirs. Thank you very much, I'll live forever grateful and I will not disappoint them. I will do my best."

The invitation is extended throughout the country and the girls respond with great courage to the call of the leading Spanish-speaking broadcaster in the United States. Long lines of girls attend to the castings in Chicago, Miami, Los Angeles and New York, which is the preamble to the aspirants for the crown of Nuestra Belleza Latina.
History of Nuestra Belleza Latina.
Alejandra Espinoza, a Mexican who lived in San Diego, California, was the first winner in 2007 for this title of Nuestra Belleza. For Alejandra, going through the contest was a great experience and her year working for Univision was summed up in just four words: difficult but the best. At the end of her reign, she became one of the models of the TV program Don Francisco and she goes home every time her work at “Sábado Gigante” allows it.
In 2008, The Latinas in the United States were represented by a Puerto Rican, Melissa Marty. With 25.6% of votes from the public, Melissa won the crown and the applause from the audience. Upon winning, in her first television interview she was asked, "What is your concept of beauty?" And she replied: "My concept of beauty is a set of qualities: intelligence, energy, perseverance and effort, but all applied to all aspects of life: work, family, friends, education, and life. Beauty is how you feel: If you feel beautiful, you surely are."
The Cuban Greidys Gil was crowned the queen of Nuestra Belleza Latina 2009 and thus gave her country the first international beauty title in more than 40 years. Since being crowned, Greidys did not stop working. She has been a journalist in El Gordo y La Flaca and was the presenter, behind the scenes, in the fourth season of Nuestra Belleza Latina.
Ana Patricia Gonzalez is the new representative of Nuestra Belleza Latina. She received advice and praise from the judges, the Venezuelan Osmel Sousa, the Miss Universe 1991 Lupita Jones and actor Julian Gil. Ana Patricia just began a new phase in her life and her fans and admirers will follow her footsteps as the new Nuestra Belleza Latina 2010 for Univision.
